EpiSoft has launched a new podcast series, Patient by Design, aimed at exploring how hospital processes, systems, and clinical workflows shape both patient experience and operational outcomes across healthcare settings.

The podcast brings together perspectives from EpiSoft team members and healthcare professionals across its customer network to examine common challenges in hospital operations and how they are being addressed in practice.

The series was developed in response to recurring themes observed in conversations with hospitals, particularly around areas where process design, rather than effort or intent, influences outcomes for both staff and patients.

The first episode focuses on informed financial consent (IFC) and pre-payment workflows in Australian hospitals. It highlights how gaps in documentation and financial discussions often originate earlier in the patient journey, typically at pre-admission or front-of-house processes, rather than within finance departments themselves.

The second episode broadens the discussion to cancer care workflows across Australia and Indonesia, drawing on recent field observations and industry engagement in Southeast Asia.

Practical forum

Jeremy Griffith, Business Development, said the podcast aims to provide a practical forum for examining how healthcare systems operate in real-world settings, rather than focusing solely on technology features or high-level transformation narratives.

“The intent is to look at where challenges actually arise in day-to-day workflows, and how hospitals are addressing them in ways that are realistic within their operating constraints.”

Future episodes will feature contributions from a range of healthcare professionals, including clinicians, operational leaders, and digital health teams, across both Australian and international settings. Topics are expected to include patient admissions, oncology workflows, care coordination, and the role of data in improving outcomes.

The series will continue to focus on how process design, supported by appropriate systems and standards, can help make complex workflows more manageable for staff while improving clarity and experience for patients.

The Patient by Design podcast is available on YouTube and Spotify.
