Referral management and automated workflow platform developer Consultmed is working with InterSystems to re-platform its solution on InterSystems’ IRIS for Health data platform.

The aim is to accelerate and reduce costs of new integrations with electronic medical records and other clinical systems, including InterSystems TrakCare EMR, through a range of pre-built interfaces and support for healthcare data standards.

The Consultmed platform is hosted on Microsoft Azure and supports integrated referral management, virtual triage and advice and guidance along with secure messaging, digital patient forms, requests for admission, and AI digitisation of paper referrals.

Its existing integrations and interfaces have been developed with REST APIs and HL7 FHIR healthcare data standards to support practice management systems and secure message delivery services used by GPs, non-GP specialists and patients/carers.

IRIS for Health has been deployed on all of the big cloud services including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud and uses healthcare-specific capabilities including a FHIR repository and REST APIs.

Consultmed founder and CEO Vikram Palit said the company had been looking for the best platform to do integrations at scale.

“InterSystems IRIS for Health allows us to expand our growth opportunities with a core technology platform that can support the major EMRs such as TrakCare, making us more competitive in the market for clinical workflow solutions,” Associate Professor Palit said.
