Clintel Systems has partnered with Allowah to launch a groundbreaking CareRight deployment that modernises and streamlines clinical care for children and young people with complex medical needs and disabilities.

CareRight is a fully integrated platform, purpose-built for complex healthcare environments,  that unifies Patient Administration (PAS), Electronic Medical Records (EMR), billing and claiming, and workflow management into a single, agile, web-based solution.

Allowah’s bespoke deployment of the CareRight platform marks a significant digital transformation in delivering complex medical care and disability support for children and young adults.

The solution integrates clinical care planning, electronic medication management via emma, and advanced observation charting tailored to paediatric or complex needs.

A centralised care plan and shift handover framework streamlines interdisciplinary coordination, bed management empowers efficient oversight of all admitted clients, while Power BI integration enables data-driven insights.

Purpose-built features—such as a NDIS billing wizard and custom assessments and workflows –  support operational efficiency and compliance.

Collaborative approach

Designed collaboratively with Allowah’s clinical, governance, and IT teams, CareRight replaces legacy systems with a modern, configurable platform aligned to Allowah’s evolving service model. The implementation reflects a commitment to safety, person-centred care, and continuous improvement in disability service delivery.

Allowah CEO Elizabeth McClean said:  “At Allowah, we support children and young adults who have both complex medical needs and disabilities. We have been around for more than 75 years and as a result have seen many ways of recording, tracking and reporting critical information about our clients and their clinical needs. As a registered NDIS provider, we care about the whole person and having a system where all our staff – both clinical and non-clinical – can make reports, log progress against goals, see the real time needs of each client is amazing.”

An important feature of the deployment is the launch of CareRight’s  modernised Online Observations and Charting – real-time clinical monitoring and decision support –  developed in close consultation with front-line clinicians and nurses, including the expert care team at Allowah.

The advanced charting capability enhances CareRight’s existing suite of clinical tools, transforming measurements and assessments into an intuitive, actionable charting experience — designed to meet rigorous national clinical governance standards while remaining clinician-centric.

CareRight Online Charts features:

  • Customisable digital templates – streamlined electronic charting with NSW paediatric and condition-specific profiles, purpose-built for clinical ease of use.
  • Real-time visualisation – live graphing of vitals like oxygen saturation and heart rate against clinical thresholds, enabling faster, clearer decision-making at the point of care.
  • Individualised parameters – online configuration of altered calling criteria supports safe, personalised monitoring for complex patients.
  • Integrated escalation triggers – nurses can initiate reviews or interventions instantly within the system—no duplication, no delays.
  • Embedded clinical prompts – smart, online decision support reduces risk and promotes proactive intervention.
  • Connected reporting – observation data flows directly into discharge summaries and care documentation, improving handover accuracy and patient continuity.

“This feature moves us closer to a world where clinical safety is embedded, not bolted on,” said Tim Macdonald, Director at Clintel Systems. “We’re empowering clinicians with tools that not only document care but actively enhance it.”

Purpose-built paediatric charts

As part of Allowah’s tailored CareRight deployment, a number of specialised paediatric charts and assessments were introduced to support the unique clinical requirements of children with complex disabilities.

These include NSW standardised observation charts such as SPOC, and SAGO, custom built fluid balance charting, alongside specialised assessments for Urinalysis, Bowel Records, Neurological Observations incorporating the Modified Paediatric Glasgow Coma Score, Neurovascular Observations, and dedicated records for Dystonia and Seizure Management.

CEO Elizabeth McClean said: “Our clients have very complex needs where recording information is concerned, and Clintel have developed online charting that makes moment to moment clinical care so much easier and safer.”

Allowah’s direct involvement in the co-design and development of the NSW paediatric charting reflects a deep commitment to practical usability and patient-centred design—ensuring the platform supports clinicians, carers, and allied health professionals alike.

Moving forward

Ms McLean said: “As Allowah continues to support clients with the most complex of needs to enjoy life, thrive, achieve goals and make friends, we are pleased that our CareRight system will be there to support our staff to ensure their wellbeing and safety. We are excited to have collaborated with Clintel to bring to Allowah the next generation of digital health solutions through CareRight and emma.”

With CareRight integrated into daily clinical workflows, both organisations were focused on sustaining operational excellence and ensuring frontline teams are fully supported in providing safe, timely, and effective care.

CareRight Charts is in early  release across select sites, with full availability expected later this year.
