Medtech launches FHIR-enabled interoperability program for third-party apps

3 December 2020
By Kate McDonald

New Zealand's market-leading practice management system vendor Medtech Global has launched a new partnership program to allow third-party applications to integrate into its software through FHIR APIs.

Called ALEX (Application Layer EXchange), the platform promises to provide better security and privacy for practices using third-party apps, make integration with Medtech's PMS easier and standards-based, and enable the development of API-based resources such as real-time patient health summaries.

Medtech will use Microsoft’s Azure FHIR software to allow authorised third-party applications to securely integrate into the Medtech 32 and Medtech Evolution PMSs in both New Zealand and Australia.
