Budget 2021: $400m for data and digital to kickstart Hira information platform

The New Zealand government has allocated $400 million over four years to invest in data and digital infrastructure for the healthcare system, including money to begin the first tranche of Hira, the national health information platform (nHIP).

District health boards have also been given a $700m capital investment for facilities, infrastructure and technology, and there is money to develop an implementation business case for the replacement of the ICT supporting the national breast screening program, which will be given $50m overall in capital and operating costs.
