Despite the vast amount of health research conducted across the globe, the outcomes are rarely translated into actual healthcare practice.
Particularly acute in the area of health AI, this knowledge-to-practice gap stems from misalignment between academic and clinical settings, persistent organisational silos, a lack of engagement with relevant stakeholders and a pervasive culture of competition over collaboration. This issue has become particularly acute in the era of health AI. While the development of sophisticated AI technologies to enhance diagnostics, personalise treatments, and optimise healthcare delivery is accelerating, a vast majority of these tools remain confined to research settings and have not yet been fully adopted in routine clinical practices.
This means that innovative developments which can save more lives are potentially being overlooked – a risk we cannot afford to take.
Hosted by Monash AI Institute and delivered by Monash Partners, this expert masterclass opens to clinical and IT/computer science researchers who want to develop or use AI tools in healthcare. Participants will gain the expertise to:
- identify and interrogate research translation gaps in health AI
- leverage the principles of learning health systems to build the foundation for health AI translation
- uncover and plan for key ethical, data governance, and workforce barriers to AI implementation
- apply a structured framework to guide the translation of AI projects from conception to clinical integration
