WA assessing replacement of radiology information system

WA Health has revealed it is looking at replacing its statewide radiology information system (RIS) and that it is likely to have to pay for the excess data centre capacity it unwittingly signed up for as part of its bungled central computing contract with Fujitsu.

WA Health director-general David Russell-Weisz told a WA Parliament public accounts committee inquiry into ICT procurement and contract management last week that the consultation process on replacing the radiology system had been “rigorous” as part of improved procurement and governance processes put in place by his predecessor, Bryant Stokes.
