Australia’s healthcare system is becoming more digital, connected and data-driven. But technology alone cannot deliver better healthcare. Its success depends on information that is accurate, accessible, secure and trusted.

Health information managers, clinical coders and clinical documentation specialists are central to making that possible.

The HIMAA National Conference 2026 (HIMAA26) will bring together the professionals who manage, protect and improve Australia’s health information.

Held at Hilton Sydney from 26–28 October 2026, the conference will connect health information professionals with digital health leaders, healthcare executives, educators, policymakers, researchers and industry partners.

Across three days, HIMAA26 will explore the issues shaping health information management and the wider healthcare system, including:

  • health information governance and data quality;
  • artificial intelligence and digital health innovation;
  • clinical coding and documentation integrity;
  • privacy, security and responsible information use;
  • workforce capability and emerging professional roles;
  • the use of trusted data to support clinical care, research, funding and service planning.

Delegates will hear from local and international experts, participate in practical and thought-provoking discussions and connect with colleagues who are leading change across healthcare.

“As healthcare systems increasingly rely on high-quality data for clinical decision-making, research and service planning, the health information management profession has never been more important,” said Sallyanne Wissmann, CEO of HIMAA.

“Whether you work in health information management, digital health, clinical coding, clinical documentation integrity, data analytics, policy or health service leadership, HIMAA26 is your opportunity to join the conversations influencing the future of the sector.

“Don’t watch the future of health information management unfold from the sidelines. Be part of shaping it.”

Registrations close on 1 October 2026.
