Peak bodies call for nurses to be involved in national telehealth model

The Australasian Institute of Digital Health has joined three other peak bodies in calling on the Australian government to expand telehealth provision to nurses, including practice nurses and those working in community and aged care.

Health Minister Greg Hunt announced yesterday that MBS telehealth items had been extended to GPs in vulnerable groups to allow them to provide telehealth consults from home, and that at the end of the week there would be a further extension to allow GPs and medical specialists to consult with all patients, whether they have a COVID-19 diagnosis or not.
