Metro North HHS to replace paper prescribing with electronic system

Brisbane's Metro North Hospital and Health Service (HHS) has issued an invitation to offer for a new electronic prescribing and medication administration (EPMA) system to replace its current manual, paper prescribing and administration processes.

As part of its electronic medications management (EMM) plan 2016-21, Metro North wants to try out a commercial off-the-shelf system, providing electronic medication prescribing, reviewing and administration functionality with clinical decision support, in two wards over two years with a view to rolling it out to all facilities if it proves successful.
