Guild backs SafeScript as better bet for national RTPM system

The Pharmacy Guild says the mandatory use of a real-time prescription monitoring (RTPM) system is an essential element in dealing with opioid misuse, and that Victoria's SafeScript system offers a better alternative than the federal government's chosen ERRCD system.

In a submission to the Therapeutic Goods Administration's (TGA) consultation paper on options for a regulatory response to opioid use and misuse in Australia, the guild says a nationally coordinated RTPM system must be mandatory and operate across all pharmacies and all doctors’ surgeries to be effective.
