Canberra-based health tech leader and digital health entrepreneur Atif Nisar, of Faz Australia, has launched MedTalk, a medical AI scribe and assistant.

Mr Nisar has been a transformational program leader, tech innovator and, notably, the digital delivery lead for the COVIDSafe app during the pandemic.

But it was in collaboration with his GP wife Maria that he recently moved into developing solutions for healthcare providers.  Mr Nisar saw the value artificial intelligence could bring into the medical arena and the opportunity to save countless hours of time for busy doctors and other health professionals.

As co-founders of MedTalk, the couple drew on a cohort of medical professionals to gain feedback for the AI-powered scribe.

“It is designed to reduce documentation time by up to 70 per cent, with seamless and efficient note capture – no typing required,”  Mr Atif said.

“It converts audio into reports, incorporates AI-driven diagnostic support, and adapts to user behaviors through machine learning and vocabulary enhancement.

“It’s fully customisable, it captures the patient’s story, symptoms and concerns in their own words.

“It can outline treatment steps, follow-ups referrals and medications,” he said.

The clinical templates available are referral letters, patient summary, consultation letter, SOAP multiple issue, and expanded comprehensive SOAP.

“MedTalk has vocabulary enhancement and machine learning, so it understands behaviours and adapts to you.

“Of course, we always stress clinicians review and edit the notes before signing off. Ultimately the responsibility for the final record remains with the provider.”

He says Faz Australia will continue to drive AI innovation in healthcare and is actively seeking collaborations with hospitals, clinics, and health tech partners via info@fazaustralia.com.
