Bias in AI can lead to serious inequalities in healthcare.  So, planning for fairness from the outset, by putting equity at the heart of design, is a priority for the sector.

Expert solution architect Philip Stalley-Gordon will share his knowledge on ‘breaking the bias in AI’ at a free webinar on August 7.

Mr Stalley-Gordon, who is Principal Enterprise/Solution Architect and AI principal for Australia and New Zealand at Dedalus, gave a popular presentation on a similar topic (Gender bias in machine learning and clinical models) at the recent Digital Health Festival in Melbourne.

His presentation at 12pm AEST on August 7 will be facilitated by digital health leader Dr Louise Schaper.

Expect to hear more on:

  • What bias in healthcare AI looks like and how it affects people
  • Ways to detect and reduce that bias
  • Key principles for designing fair and transparent AI systems
  • Techniques to minimise bias before, during, and after model development
  • Why diverse teams and leadership support are essential to creating equitable change
