Ida Tin, the women’s health internet entrepreneur, founder of Clue, and credited with coining the term “femtech” in 2016, says the word has helped create a sense of community.

“I didn’t fully realise at the time how important it is to have a word that people can orient themselves around. But that one word helped people find each other—it created a sense of community and signaled that something bigger was happening in both culture and technology.”

Ida Tin, a femtech thought leader, was speaking on the latest episode of PULSE the Podcast with co-hosts Dr George Margelis and Dr Louise Schaper.

Clue is a science-based, data-driven menstrual and reproductive health app with over 10 million users.  Users enter their data to uncover insights into their health and fertility.

“Every time you enter a data point in Clue, you’re quite literally moving women’s health research forward,” Ida Tin says . That data can help a researcher learn something new, publish a paper, and in turn, we translate those findings into information our users can understand. Hopefully, even their doctor learns something new—so users get better care. It becomes a circle of value.”

Femtech technologies include fertility solutions, period and fertility tracking apps, reproductive system health care, women’s sexual wellness products, pregnancy and nursing care, period care goods, at-home fertility monitoring devices and general healthcare.

Ida Tin appears on the episode titled: Aussie Govt Updates, Silicon Valley, & Mother of FemTech Ida Tin
