Primary Health Tasmania and the Victorian primary health networks are developing a register of recommended telehealth equipment for residential aged care facilities (RACFs).

Vendors are being invited to apply to be included on the register of recommended telehealth products so residents can consult with their primary healthcare providers and specialists virtually.

According to Primary Health Tasmania, the register will be used to support a grants program for RACFs aimed at improving their telehealth infrastructure and capabilities.

PHNs around the country are offering the federally funded grants, which consist of $5000 per RACF to be spent on IT hardware such as webcams, iPads, speakers and trolleys for mobile telehealth stations, as well as software.

Several are also running capability audits to assist RACFs with appropriate telehealth facilities and equipment.

PHT says it is conducting an expression of interest (EOI) process for vendors who would like their products to be included on this new register.

The register will include recommended telehealth equipment across three categories: small and portable, telehealth stations and telehealth carts.

The Primary Health Tasmania EOI closes on December 16.
