MedicalDirector signs with Surgical Partners for integrated accounting

Clinical and practice management software vendor MedicalDirector has signed an agreement with financial management software specialist Surgical Partners to deliver an integration platform that will allow MD’s PracSoft and Blue Chip users to integrate financial transactions with Xero, MYOB AccountRight Live and Quickbooks Online.

The integrated Surgical Partners solution will be available to PracSoft customers by July, with Blue Chip integration to follow in October. Surgical Partners and MedicalDirector also plan to collaborate on bringing the online accounting and back office efficiency tools into MedicalDirector Helix, MD’s new cloud platform.

Surgical Partners says it was the first to offer cloud integration solutions dedicated to the financial management problems faced by general and specialist medical practices.

The platform includes partnerships with the accounting packages as well as with other solutions for management of staff, accounts payable, and quality/accreditation processes. These will also now be available to MedicalDirector clients.

Surgical Partners CEO Marcus Wilson said market demand for financial workflow automation in medical practices had accelerated in recent years.

He said the integration of MedicalDirector with Surgical Partners will address three common challenges faced by practices: the manual entry of practice revenue and balance sheet data into accounting systems, the problem of reconciling practice bank accounts with recorded receipts, and the splitting of practitioner billings into practice share (commonly known as facility fees) and practitioner share for contracted clinicians.
