Microsoft to buy Nuance in $25b deal to boost cloud strategy for healthcare

Microsoft will buy speech recognition and AI developer Nuance Communications in a $US19.6 billion ($A25.6b) deal that will massively expand Microsoft’s healthcare industry cloud strategy.

Nuance has a market-leading portfolio of products for clinical speech recognition, many of which are built on Microsoft Azure, including the cloud hosted Dragon Medical One and PowerScribe One for radiology reporting. It also markets the on-premise Dragon Medical Practice.
